A little bit of history
Since its creation as an Iberian settlement, the history of Barcelona has been intimately linked to the sea. However, the current relationship Barcelona has with the sea has little to do with the one it had its entire history. Over the course of centuries, the coastline of the city has varied until it reached the one we know today.
It is not until the year 1590, with the construction of the new harbor dike, in which enough land was gained to establish the new marine district of the city: Barceloneta.
Barceloneta: a fully equipped beach
The beach of Barceloneta, delimited by the beaches of Sant Miquel and the beach of Somorrostro, is 578 meters long and 89 meters wide.
It is one of the beaches with the largest number of facilities in the city, among which you can find:
